Overview:
We start from Pokhara, cross river beds and terraced hillsides, on trails disappearing into blazing rhododendron clusters and oak forest, to picturesque Ghandrung, principal village of the Gurung. We go on to the deep narrow corridor of Mardi Gorge, entrance to the sanctuary, a spectacular mountain amphitheatre formed by the towering peaks of Annapurna South, Fang , Annapurna I and III, Gangapurna, Glacier Dome and Machhapucchre. We pitch camp at approximately 4240m, in the middle of these awesome surroundings. On return, we descend through the gorge and cross the Deurali Pass from which can be had a bird’s eye view of the Kali Gandaki valley. On a rest day normally planned for Ghorepani, a short climb up to Poon Hill is worthwhile to get a sweeping view of the entire western Himalaya, including the giant Dhaulagiri.
Itinerary:
- Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu. Meet assist and transfer to hotel.
- Day 02: Preparation and briefing of the trekking.
- Day 03: Drive or fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara. 850m about 30 min. flight or 6 hrs drive. Same day drive up to Kande and walk about 1:15 hours 5 ½ hrs
- Day 04: After breakfast trek start from Australian Camp to Jhinu Danda. about 6 hours
- Day 05: Trek from Jhinu Danda to Bambo about 5 hours
- Day 06: Bambo to Deurali about 5 hours walk
- Day 07: Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp about 4 1/2 hours
- Day 08: Annapurna Base camp to Himalayan hotel about 5 1/2 hours
- Day 09: Himalayan hotel to Chomorong about 5 1/2 hours
- Day 10: Chomrong to Tadapani about 5 hours walk
- Day 11: Tadapani to Ghorepani about 4 1/2 hours walk
- Day 12: Early morning walk up to Poon hill and return back to ghorepani and trek down to Tikhedhunga about 5 hours
- Day 13: Tikhedhunga to Nayapul walk and drive to pokhara.
- Day 14: Pokhara extra night for sightseeing
- Day 15: Drive or fly back to Kathmandu. Free day at Kathmandu
